Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce – Committee of Fifty
The purpose of this Committee shall be to promote and support the expansion, development, and missions of Holloman Air Force Base and White Sands Missile Range. The Committee advocates for the military and sponsors events that foster understanding and appreciation between the civilian and military population of Southern New Mexico. Membership in the Committee of Fifty is representative of the community. This Committee has by-laws, officers, and dues, which fully fund committee activities.
History of the Committee of Fifty:
The Committee began in 1964 as an organization to support Holloman Air Force Base and White Sands Missile Range, and to ensure recognition of their contributions to the economic well- being of Otero County.
Any person holding a membership in the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce is eligible to be a member of the Committee of Fifty. Candidates for membership are submitted by current Committee members. Those candidates are then voted into the committee by the general membership of the Committee of Fifty. The Committee does have Ex-Officio members such as the President of the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce Board Appointed Sponsor, the Mayor of the City of Alamogordo, and a Board Representative from the Otero County Commission.
