NMSU-A FACTS
NMSU Alamogordo (NMSU-A) is a comprehensive community college within the New Mexico State University system. NMSU-A began serving the area educational needs in 1958 with an initial student enrollment of 251. Traditional academic, evening-only classes were held at the local high school. Today the college serves over 6,000 students a year and is the second fastest growing institution in the nation. Its town campus has grown to 13 structures that lie at the base of the Sacramento Mountains with the recent addition of the LEED Gold certified Science Center Annex. The campus also offers courses online and at Holloman AFB. Early spring of 2010 saw beginning construction of the 15,000 sq. ft. Southern New Mexico Advanced Technology Center. With its completion, NMSU-A will be able to provide training in the automotive, welding, and alternative energy technologies. The campus offers 21 Associate Degrees and 15 Certificate Programs.
